Fabien Canu: INSEP Director Renewed for 4 Years

The Minister of Sports Marie Barsacq announced this Thursday that the former judoka Fabien Canu was renewed for four years at the head of the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance (INSEP).

“Director General of the establishment since September 2021, Fabien Canu will continue his mission at the service of French sporting excellence and the support of high -level athletes for a new 4 -year term”, according to a press release.

The ministry considers that under its direction, INSEP “played a central role in the preparation and support of the French teams for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024, as well as in the development of research and innovation at the service of performance”.

Marie Barsacq, for his part, held that Fabien Canu “perfectly knew how to fulfill the mission entrusted to him by making Insep an essential place for the preparation of our champions and our champions: more than half of the French medalists at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 have prepared in the Grand Insep network”.

“Strengthened by the momentum of the 2024 Paris Games, we will together take up the challenges to come: prepare the next Olympic and Paralympic deadlines, support each sportsman in their training project, and place their physical integrity as their well-being at the heart of our priorities,” said Canu, quoted in the press release.
