F1 Dutch GP: Piastri Pole, Hadjar P4 – Qualifying Results

After several weeks of break, Formula 1 makes a comeback in the Netherlands. Before the Grand Prix scheduled for this Sunday on the Zandvoort circuit, the pilots took part on Saturday in the qualifications. As often this season, the McLaren has shone.

Leader in the pilot ranking, Oscar Piastri will go in pole position during the Grand Prix, followed closely by his teammate Lando Norris (winner of the last race in Hungary). Max Verstappen will be the main threat to the McLaren duo with his third position.

On the French side, a great satisfaction with a 4th place won by Isack Hadjar during these qualifications. It is the best result of the Racing Bulls driver that will start on the second line, accompanied by the Dutch world champion. A performance that Hadjar obviously savor: “I feel very good, I am satisfied with work (…) I released a very big last round, so I’m happy. This place was unexpected, I was not very confident. When I crossed the line, I saw myself 8th or 7th, but 4th in front of the big guys, it feels good. This is the best position to have for me, ”he told Canal+.

Not really flamboyant, the Ferrari by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are 6th and 7th. Note that the Monegasque experienced an unusual event on the circuit, crossing the road to a fox passing by.

A complicated session for Ocon

If there is a pilot who avoided the worst, it is launching Stroll. From the Q1, the Aston Martin pilot left the track at turn 13, and hit the wall. The single -seater being too damaged, the Canadian had to abandon, and will start in last position during the Grand Prix.

In great difficulty with their haas, Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman did not pass the Q1. At the microphone of Canal+, the French assured that it intends to do what is necessary to finish in the top 10: “We lack a little performance on this circuit. We will go very far, but we will give everything to try to go up. We have to give ourselves the means to get into the points. With this car, we are better in the race than in qualifying. »»

His compatriot Pierre Gasly got out of it a little better while reaching Q2. 14th, the Frenchman congratulated his Alpine team for the improvements made to the car: “The team did a good job to give us a more efficient car. Compared to this morning, we made a huge step. We are happy to have left the Q1. In the race, everything can happen even if we are not in a position of strength. You have to keep trying to fight, “he said.
