Kees Kwakman has responded in horror to the decision of referee Erwin Blank to approve the 2-0 of FC Groningen against Telstar. Prior to the Oskar Zawada goal, Telstar player Tyrese Noslin was pushed by Wouter Prins, but even after interference from the VAR, the arbitrator left the goal.
FC Groningen took the lead against Telstar in the first half through a free kick by Younes Taha from a lot. Kwakman understands that the referee did not at first whistle. “The referee also thought there was not too much going on in the first instance,” he says on ESPN. “In itself, that is possible that he (white, ed.) Thinks: he is going to be too easy. I really wanted to make the referee a compliment today, because he fell a great game. Really good. He was unobtrusive, as a referee should be. But unfortunately he goes wrong.”
The former footballer does not understand that Blank left the goal. “How do you come up with that you don’t whistle for this?” Kwakman continues, after which presenter Cristian Willaert wants to know something about the analyst. “Can you think of something in your head that makes the referee, when you see these images, think: yes, I approve him?”
Kwakman then analyzes the game between Noslin and Prins. “From behind you see that Prins with his left leg very light hits the ball. But he still pushes him into the swimming pool with two hands,” Kwakman continues laughing. Willaert then also shows himself critically. “There is nowhere in the rules that if you hit the ball, someone can push over.”
Obvious violation according to Kwakman
In the eyes of Kwakman, the push and contact take place at the same time. “He pushes him forward with two hands, this is just a foul,” says the former player of FC Volendam, FC Groningen and NAC Breda, who then gets support from Willaert. “You can still say: he may fall a bit easy. But then, you see the power on the back of the player. It’s not a very small push.
“It’s just a clear push, with two hands too. The VAR (Martijn Vos, ed.) Also thinks it, because he shouts the referee,” Kwakman continues. However, Blank did not participate in the opinion of the video referee and decided to grant the goal to FC Groningen. “I just don’t understand that he will not turn this decision back,” he concludes.
