On the last day of the transfer market, the goalkeeper of the Italian national football team Gianluigi Donnarumma was purchased by Manchester City: it is not yet official, but all the main media give it as a thing done. The transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano wrote that Manchester City will pay the Paris Saint-Germain about 30 million euros and that Donnarumma will sign a long contract with the team that plays in the Premier League, the main English championship and the most competitive in the world.
Donnarumma is 26 years old, is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is the only Italian footballer nominated this year for the Golden Ball, the most prestigious individual award in football. Recently he was the protagonist of the exceptional 2024-2025 season of Paris Saint-Germain, which ended with the victory of three national trophies and the Champions League: it is likely that, thanks above all to the parades made in the direct elimination phase of the tournament, at the end of the year the best goalkeeper of 2025 will win.
At the beginning of the new season, however, the things between Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain have complicated: they have to do with the purchase of a new goalkeeper (Lucas Chevalier Dal Lille), preferred by the coach Luis Enrique because it is better at setting the game with his feet, and problems in the negotiation for the renewal of the Donnarumma contract, which would have expired at the end of the next season. The transition from Milan to Paris Saint-Germain, which occurred in the summer of 2021, had also been stuffed enough (in the end he had gone on zero parameter, that is, at the expiry of the contract).
Donnarumma, who already has 74 appearances with Italy, will then play in Manchester City, the team coached by Pep Guardiola and one of the best in the world (even if last season it went badly), who has just sold its previous goalkeeper, the Brazilian Ederson, at Fenerbahce.
