BRATISLAVA. Slovak tennis players lead after the first singles meeting of the 1st World Group of Davis Cup over Colombia 1: 0.

Alex Molčan took care of the opening point for the home team at Harde in NTC in Bratislava, who conquered the unit of the opponent’s team Nicolas Mejia in two sets 6: 4 and 7: 6 (4).

In the second single, Lukáš Klein and Adria Soriano Barrera came against each other.

Molčan coped with Mejia for the second time in five days, and last Sunday he won over him in the final of the Challenger in Istanbul.

On Friday he got to Brejkbal in the first game, in the third gem to the other four, but the Colombian managed to avert.

In it Molčan had the upper hand in longer exchanges, he built a promising lead 4: 0 and already guarded it. At 6: 4 he transformed the first sword. Duel lasted 2:25 h.

“Returning to the team tastes fantastic. I am very glad that I have mastered the challenging match and I look forward to it. Even though I was down in both sets, it didn’t miss me because I know I can take it back.

He had phases there when he served really well, but I knew it wouldn’t be all the time and that the chance would come. Finally, it was, ”Molčan told TASR.

According to the Slovak Two, the meeting can be compared to the Istanbul: “It was more intense, but very similar, even though I had more stress now, because it is Davis Cup. But fans and benches helped me, they were great and I drew energy.”

At the beginning of the second set he had moments of cramps in his legs, but he got out of it, “I don’t even know what happened. I suddenly felt a little cramp in the second gem, but then it somehow lost and I could run to the end.”

The winner of Slovakia – Colombia is waiting for the next year’s qualification to advance to the final tournament of the Davis Cup, the conquered team will fight to stay in the First World Group.
