Danny Blind Leaves Ajax Board Role

As soon as a suitable candidate has been found, an extraordinary meeting of shareholders (BAVA) will be convened for the nomination thereof, the Amsterdam club says.

Since April 2018, Blind has been a member of the council as a football commissioner: a period of seven years, with a two-year interruption, when he was an assistant coach. The period of Blind as a football commissioner would run until the end of the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) of 2027.

Blind indicates that personal reasons are based on his decision: ,, There is a time to come and start. I watch the sporting successes in the past with satisfaction. I hope that the road up will be continued. For me it is good to be able to focus my attention more on other things. “

Danny Blind at Ajax

Carolien Gehrels, chairman of the Supervisory Board: ,, Danny Blind has meant a lot for Ajax. Danny played 493 games for the club and in 1995 he was the captain of the Golden Team that won the Champions League. He has been involved for decades and from different roles: both as a player, head of education, trainer, technical director and commissioner. He made the difference on both sporting and organizational terms. We thank him for his long, intensive and professional involvement at Ajax. As a Supervisory Board we look back on an exceptionally good and pleasant cooperation in recent months ”.

Due to the departure of Blind, Ajax has to look for someone with a football background in the Supervisory Board. In the past, among others, Theo van Duivenbode fulfilled this role.
