FC Bayern starts perfectly. Five games, five wins, 15 points, 22: 3 goals – is the rest of the league already intimidated? Is the Bundesliga season a huge race for second place? The views on the fifth matchday went to Mainz, where BVB as the most experienced Bayern competitor tries to get the tension for everyone.
Is there a Bayern persecutor?
Even two! BVB did unusually confidently its away task in Mainz. The Borussia has already seen it differently. The two goals in the first half were also quite attractive. The 1-0 by Daniel Svensson previously went two beautiful passes and Maxi Beier and Julian Brandt, the 2-0 by Karim Adeyemi fell after a shaky but in the end successful counter combination. Adeyemi and Brandt played the ball in the back of each other – but he was in the end. The BVB had to do without its most important player shortly before the start: Serhou Guirassy sat down on the bench due to thigh problems after warming up. At the latest after the red card against the Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner, who could only stop Adeyemi in the 67th minute, the game was ran for the 05s.
And the second pursuer? RB Leipzig has been in third place in third place (see below, the table in the Bundesliga can be found here).
Does Heidenheim still have a chance?
Of course – provided that Frank Schmidt’s team threshes the ball into the stitch. Because the problem in the Swabian Alb was actually in the banal for 45 minutes on Saturday against Augsburg. Four times the playfully superior Heidenheimers had free rail, four times in a row they chased ball over the latte in the clouds: first Niklas Dorsch by free kick (5th), then Arijon Ibrahimovic (16.) and twice Sirlord Conteh (28th, 44th). After all, the rough direction was right, and when the team came out of the cabin, it took two minutes for the spell to be broken. Conteh whizzed along the line, matched Mikkel Kaufmann, who actually spoiled the ball into the mesh. Conteh himself scored 2-0 (54th) Heidenheim celebrated the first victory, the first point win of the season.
The connection of Philipp Tietz (90.+8) came too late. For Augsburg under coach Sandro Wagner, there are now four defeats in a row. This is how the initial question arises. It is now: Does Augsburg still have another chance?
Comeback of the game day
In the third minute of stoppage time, Timo Werner again entered a Bundesliga arasium – and that alone was no longer expected. Werner’s recent history is a tragic. After Leipzig borrowed him to London in Tottenham in the winter of 2024, the striker did not start there so badly, two goals and four templates will play in the first team. Last December, however, he threw him – you have to say so hard – the then coach Verzecoglou at the time. Not only that he replaced him in the European League game against the Rangers from Glasgow at halftime, postecoglou criticized Werner afterwards (“His performance was not acceptable.”) And no longer used him. When he returned to Leipzig in the summer, his future was open for a long time. He stayed in the squad against Cologne last week, now the short assignment.
And RB Leipzig also celebrates a comeback. Ole Werner’s team started the Bundesliga season very badly – with a 0: 6 in Munich. But the coach that was already known in Bremen for his calm also kept her at the new workplace and celebrated the fourth victory in a row against Wolfsburg. Johan Bakayoko scored the goal of the day (8th), Christoph Baumgartner awarded a penalty in the 90th minute. And then Werner Werner changed.

Premiere of the game day
In Christina Rann, a game in the Bundesliga TV conference commented for the first time in the game between Wolfsburg and Leipzig. In 2025. Sabine Töpperwien was on the microphone on the radio ago.
Does St. Pauli remain the surprise team?
Alexander Blessin’s team did not beat the champions of the 2023/24 season. Regardless of the result (1: 2), it should be noted that St. Pauli was the lively, more happy team in a direct comparison with Leverkusen. Three times as many shots towards the goal as with the opponent, the Hamburgers were somewhat surprisingly after a free kick by Alejandro Grimaldo by Edmond Tapsoba (25th) behind. Before the break, St. Pauli used a goalkeeper error by Mark Flekken to compensate: Bayer’s keeper had broken Hauke Wahl in front of his feet. Leverkusen scored the winning goal in the 58th minute, when Ernest Poku, joined by coach Kasper Hjulmand two minutes earlier, hit the short corner. St. Pauli has to join the Bundesliga reality: well played, but still lost for the second time.
