The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) in Brazil condemned Bruno Henrique to a suspension of 12 Flamengo games, including only national evidence. The striker was punished for acting “contrary to sports ethics” when, in a game against Santos in 2023, he forced a yellow card.
The case began because, in this game, the sister -in -law, a cousin and friends of Bruno Henrique bet considerable amounts of money in how Bruno Henrique would be admonished with the yellow card. The Federal Police began investigating the incident in August 2024 and three months later, the player and his acquaintances were the target of search.
In April this year, the Federal Police accused Bruno Henrique de sports fraud. The investigation also focuses on Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior (player’s brother), Ludymilla Araújo Lima (Wander’s wife) and Poliana Ester Nunes Cardoso (player’s cousin.
The trial took place this Thursday and took almost eight hours. Bruno Henrique was part of the same as a video and declared himself innocent.
According to Globo Esporte, Flamengo will appeal this decision. And while this appeal is not tried, the club will request the suspension of the punishment applied to the player, so that it can continue to play until the trial of the appeal.
Bruno Henrique is considered a Flamengo legend: he has been in the club since 2019 and won the Brasileirão and Libertadores in the debut year, under the command of Jorge Jesus. He won 10 trophies at the club, which has already played in 320 games (102 scored goals).
