In the center of Bratislava, directly on the old town, stands a historic house with atticthat was recently just old soil. Today you will find an exceptionally distinctive family apartment with an area of 120 square meters. Architects Jana Benková and Juraj Benko from the Benko Benkova studio dealt with the specifics of these premises and created a cozy housing where, in addition to green and green colors, you will also find a fireplace or a reader’s corner.
The ground admit
Given that the housing unit was placed in the place of former land, it is an attic apartment with specifics that normally belong to these spaces. In the new interior, designed for a young family, the torso of the original chimney bodies, the roof structure and the massive wide dormer excel. The overall appearance of the interior is naturally formed by roof windows, some of which were newly created to get the maximum daylight into the interior.
At a time when the architects approached the project, the interior was in an advanced stage of the rough building, but there were quite a lot to tighten. Overall, they approached the project by not hiding the elements that refer to an earlier character of the space.
Urban jungle
The chimneys used the authors imaginatively. At the entrance areas, they hid the necessary technologies. The second chimney, which is in the central part of the space, expanded and added a fireplace insert. Just fireplace It contributes to the coziness of the interior. At the same time, they placed a wide bench with upholstered seats in the gray masonry – it is beautifully used not only for lounging by the fireplace. In the corner of the room, or between the chimney and the generous library, a reader’s corner was created, from which the inhabitants have the whole apartment in the palm of your hand.
Green is undoubtedly the main color accent of this household. It underlines the city jungle as the authors nicknamed this project. The owners wanted the overall interior style on the greenery in pots, and eventually this wish proved to be a great direction.

Interior contest of the year
Within the contest Interior They are awarded every year exceptional private and public interiors designed by Czech and Slovak architects and designers. The winners will again be announced as the top point of the International Congress of Housing, Design and Architecture Living Forum in the Prague Center for Contemporary Art DOX.
