Martin Uldal was a big surprise in the past biathlon season. The Norwegian ski hunter wants to reach for the stars in the coming years.
“I just want to have a successful career and be seen as one of the largest,” said Martin Uldal in an interview with “Fondo Italia” about his dreams in biathlon.
And further: “I also want to change the sport a bit. These are my goals. In addition, I want to do well at the Winter Olympics in Italy.”
Uldal had started the past biathlon season in the second-class IBU Cup. Before Christmas, the Norwegian moved to the World Cup. In Annecy, the 24-year-old surprisingly won the sprint.
“It was pretty crazy. Everything just fit. I was really good in the IBU Cup and it was great fun to be there in the World Cup,” the Scandinavian looked back at his coup in France.
Uldal ended the overall biathlon World Cup in a convincing eleventh place.
“I have a slightly different technology”
The Norwegian hope is known for his fast shooting deposits. In spring, Udal set up an unofficial world record in biathlon.
“I have a slightly different technology,” said the junior world champion from 2020: “So if I want to be fast, I can be really fast compared to what the others have done in recent years. I think some will follow me, maybe next season. So I just have to go in this direction, because you have to be quick, but also in shooting.”
In the sprint in particular, the distances would often be “only a few seconds”, Uldal recalled. As a favorite for the coming winter, he named his Norwegian compatriot Sturla Holm Lægreid, who won the large crystal ball in 2024/25.
