Bernt Klaverboer’s Struggle: A Personal Story

Bernd Klaverboer will replace Andries Noppert as the first goalkeeper of SC Heerenveen. The young keeper grew up near Heerenveen, where he soon had a ball.

“At Udiros he was as a boy to kick back the balls at the training of the first one,” says Emiel Kramer Omrop Fryslân. The then trainer got to know the current SC Heerenveen goalkeeper during a terrible period. Klaverboer’s mother died. “He came to me then. We often trained. Very often.”

Kramer is now a youth trainer at VVV-Venlo and he then saw all the inquisitive in Klaverboer. “We often trained extra on Wednesday afternoon and Sunday morning at his request,” he continues. “Technology training, for example, to make his left foot better. Everyone calls that he wants to become a professional football player, but he really went for it.”

According to his old youth trainer, the goalkeeper has everything a good keeper needs. “You could see that in the youth. Bernt can play well, he has a length and he is an athlete,” says Kramer.
