Benfica paid more than Sporting in the heading of sports performance awards at the time 2024/25.
In the SAD report and accounts for last season’s exercise, made public on Thursday, SAD Leonina paid 9.092 million euros to players and technical team for the ‘collective performance and permits of sports performance’.
The value, at a time that culminated in the conquest of the double (championship and cup of Portugal), rose compared to the previous season, in which a total amount of 8.988 million euros was paid.
Already Benfica, which failed to achieve the main sports goals, paid 11.024 million euros, significantly € 3.1m compared to the 2023/24 exercise (€ 7.908m).
This increase, justifies the incarnate SAD, is due to sports performance higher than the previous season, reminding the society that in 2024/25 the eagles won the League Cup, reached the round of 16 of the Champions League and participated in the Club World Cup, in which Bruno Lage’s team also hit the round of 16.
