Casa do Benfica da Bairrada is at the center of a controversy after announcing a clarification session promoted by the party arrives, scheduled for next September 6, at 5 pm.
In a statement directed at the partners and the community, the board justified the initiative as part of the Spirit of Opening and Public Service of the Space, ensuring availability to welcome other parties candidates for Anadia’s municipality.
«We inform that on September 6, at 17h, the Benfica Casa do Bairrada will host a clarification session promoted by the party, at the request of the party itself. This initiative is part of the opening spirit and public service of Casa do Benfica da Bairrada, which is also available to welcome all the remaining parties candidates for the Anadia Authority who wish to hold similar sessions. Bairrada’s Benfica House will remain a space for plurality, dialogue and civic participation », can be read in the statement.
However, the decision raised strong criticism as it collides with the statutes of Sport Lisboa and Benfica. Article 82 of course: “Benfica’s houses are expressly forbidden to engage in political-partisan political activities and religious proselytizing.”
With this, being confirmed the holding of this session with the party arrives, it will be a direct violation of the club’s internal rules.
