Gustavo Silva, former Legal Director of Benfica, made known his point of view on open-ended issues, scheduled for October 25, in an interview with A Bola TV.

The use of electronic vote on the islands and abroad has given to speak and there is no unanimity among the six candidacies. “I believe, in abstract terms, that electronic vote may be a good solution, but this is part of a maturity and confidence between institution and associates, which I understand not to exist, especially after 2020. This was very clear during the discussion of the statutes. At this time, no conditions are created for the electronic vote to go forward. This is not about issues of A or B, it has to do with knowing Benfica. Whatever the candidate who wins and the next president must have a reinforced legitimacy. 2020 has not been like this for so long and, therefore, I understand that what will happen is that we will have a physical vote in mainland Portugal, on the islands and abroad, ”he began by explaining.

The jurist warns that José Pereira da Costa, chairman of the club’s general meeting, is dealing with a delicate situation in terms of electoral regulation: “Applications are not applications, he has no formally any candidacy to say he does not want to. For example, someone says they don’t want to [voto eletrónico]gives up or does not go to votes for some reason. And the others all wanted … »

Gustavo Silva considers “the corresponding essential partners”, as they can be “delegated at the various vote tables”, so “it is a detail that can be reviewed.” Already the vote by correspondence, proposed by João Diogo Manteigas, “is not foreseen in the statutes”. “I see no legal viability to move forward,” he added, before speaking in the debates: “BTV has capacity, he liked it to be planned, but there are candidates who will not want to.”

Luís Filipe Vieira, former president of the club, presented this Monday a proposal for alternative electoral regulation, because he understands that it should not be one party to dictate the rules of the game, in this case the direction of Rui Costa.

“I will make a huge effort to say nothing about it, because I think people have a past and therefore the past in the way they look at the elections and all that is engaging, speaks for themselves. So, I think it’s not worth adding anything, ”said the former legal director of the incarnates.
