Belfort Responds to Popó, Attacks Wanderlei Silva

Vitor Belfort accepted the challenge of facing Aceino “Popó” Freitas in a boxing fight. In an interview with Podcast Ironcastby influencer Renato Cariani, the former MMA fighter also harshly criticized Wanderlei Silva’s behavior after the defeat at Spaten Fight Night, held last Sunday (28) in Sao Paulo.

“The challenge (fighting with Popó) is accepted. I was going to open the World Cup with the winner and end with the loser. Now, with this loser, in no way I fight a guy like that. This guy doesn’t deserve to enter the ring with anyone. After that show, he did not deserve to fight anyone. You don’t fight like that,” Belfort shot.

The former champion also showed concern about the impact of confusion on the future of Spaten Fight Night events.

“My concern is: Spaten cannot give up on support, to continue. But she has to punish who deserves it. It’s police case. That can’t happen. We can’t accept it …”, he began.

For Belfort, the incident exceeded the sports limits and must be treated rigorously.

“It has to be treated as a crime. That was a crime in that ring. This can not happen within the ring at all,” said Belfort
