The BC The Young of Kisangani settled in Lubumbashi this Sunday, August 31, ready to defend the colors of the province of Tshopo on the occasion of the 42nd edition of the Congo Congo de Basketball.
With a delegation made up of 15 people, including 10 athletes, the Tshopolese club intends to make you forget its disappointing performance of the previous edition in Kinshasa.
With a remarkable season punctuated by victories throughout the line in the local championship, The Young arrives with ambition in a competition which takes place this year mainly in the Grand Katanga, especially in the cities of Lubumbashi, Likasi and Kolwezi.
Of the three clubs initially planned to represent the Tshopo, only BC The Young was able to make the trip, BC Fipam (2nd in the local championship) and BC the Young Dame having stayed in Kisangani for lack of means.
The competition was officially launched on Saturday August 30 at the Stadium Joseph Kabila from the Cité Gécamines in Lubumbashi.
The local club Generation Espoir, champion of Haut-Katanga, opened hostilities with a large 59-33 victory against the ASB Rehoboth in Kananga.
Among the ladies, the remake of the previous final between the ASB Makomeno City and the ASB CNSS held all its promises until its interruption. 4 minutes 16 seconds from the end of the last quarter, while the score was 41-41, a power cut plunged the ground into the dark, preventing the normal end of the meeting.
The 42nd edition promises to be thrilling, with new challenges for clubs from all over the country.
