Bayern Munich vs Chelsea: Champions League Result

FC Bayern München – FC Chelsea 3: 1 (2: 1)

FC Bayern Munich won 3-1 (2: 1) against Chelsea FC at the start of the Champions League. The Munich team took the lead in the competitive game in front of 75,000 spectators by an own goal of Trevoh Chalobah (20th minute). Kane increased shortly afterwards by penalty (27th). The striker himself had been fouled by Moisés Caicedo. A little later Chelsea shortened by Cole Palmer (29th) before Kane restored the old distance.

With the deserved victory, the German record champion is expanding an impressive winning streak: it has already been the 22nd victory for the start of the premier class since 2002.

“A great result,” called Kane the final score after the final whistle at DAZN: “It was a strong performance against a very good opponent. It was a difficult game, we are very relieved.”

Difficult start for the Munich

The Munich team struggled at the beginning. Enzo Fernández missed from a short distance from Palmer (7th). Shortly afterwards, Marc Cucurella also missed the Bayern goal (13th). Chelsea looked more determined in this phase, while the Munich had problems to raise their dominant game. The lead was all the more surprising when Chalobah steered a sharp cross from Michael Olise into his own goal. After Kanes 2-0, the Munich seemed on the right track, but the joy lasted briefly: Cole Palmer successfully transformed after a counterattack.

After the change, Chelsea pushed for the equalization, which in turn offered Bavaria space to counter. Kane failed freely in one of these attacks to Robert Sánchez (57th). Shortly afterwards Olise should have hit after a pass from Kane from a short distance, but Sánchez reacted strongly again. As a result, Bayern took over more control and were rewarded when Kane exploited a mistake in Chelsea’s defense.

Nicolas Jackson’s newcomer was initially on the bench against his ex-club. In injury time he was finally allowed to go on the pitch.
