Badminton Club Carré Celebrates 45 Years: A Look Back and a Call for New Players

That’s precisely the spirit that launched BC Carré. what started with a handful of enthusiasts has grown over four and a half decades, though the club is currently seeking to expand its roster.
Currently, BC Carré boasts 13 active members, a number they’re eager to grow. The club’s focus is on recreational badminton, with a particular emphasis on mixed doubles, a format that ofen mirrors the dynamic teamwork seen in sports like tennis or even the strategic plays in basketball. However, individual players are equally encouraged to join the fun. The barrier to entry is intentionally low,making it accessible for anyone looking to pick up a racket.
“The atmosphere is casual, and our members are always ready to support each other, both on and off the court,” shares Secretary Stef Koning.This sentiment echoes the strong bonds found in manny accomplished amateur sports teams across the U.S., where the social aspect is as crucial as the competition itself. Whether it’s a post-game huddle after a tough soccer match or sharing stories after a round of golf, BC carré cultivates a similar spirit of togetherness.
The club convenes every Wednesday evening from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.at Sporthal Zuiderlicht in berghem. This consistent schedule provides a reliable opportunity for members to engage in their sport, much like a weekly pickup basketball game at the local park or a regular bowling league night.
