Arunachal Pradesh: Summer Badminton Championship Results

Daporijo, Arunachal Pradesh – September 16, 2023 – A week-long summer badminton championship, aptly themed “No to Drugs, Yes to Badminton,” recently concluded at the Khelo India Centre in Daporijo, Upper Subansiri district. The event,aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and steering youth away from substance abuse,saw eager participation from local athletes.

The championship, organized by the Khelo India Centre (Athletics), culminated on Monday with a closing ceremony attended by Tasso Gambo, Deputy Commissioner of Upper Subansiri, and Mobia Tai, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kodak. Gambo highlighted the district’s existing badminton infrastructure, noting that three courts at the Government Higher Secondary School have been recently renovated with modern facilities, funded by the DC’s untied fund.

“We have ample badminton courts in Daporijo, and with these recent upgrades, we encourage all residents to utilize these facilities,” stated Gambo. He emphasized the role of sports in maintaining a drug-free district, adding, “Adopting sports is a powerful way to keep our community healthy and vibrant.”

Gambo expressed confidence in the local talent, remarking on the potential of the district’s youth to achieve recognition in national and international sporting arenas. This sentiment echoes the broader goals of the Khelo India initiative, which aims to build a strong sporting culture across India.
