NEW YORK – Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenková defended the title in women’s singles at the Grand Slam US Open.
In Saturday’s final she won the position of a tournament unit over the eighth seeded home American Amanda Anisimov 6: 3, 7: 6 (3). For Sabalenková, this is the fourth single trophy from the Big Four events, in 2023 and 2024 she did not find a conqueror at the Australian Open.
Belarus is the first successful advocate of the US Open title since 2014, when American Serena Williams triumphed in New York. After the jubilee stomach winning match at the Grand Slam, it will collect a bonus of five million dollars before tax.
Sabalenko defended 2000 points from last year and after the end of the Flushing Meadows struggle will retain the post of the world unit. For Anisimov, it was the second unsuccessful Grand Slam final, in July in Wimbledon she did not win a single gem against Poland Ige Swiatek.
Bright first set, drama in the second act
Anisimovová had three breaks available in the opening game with Sabalenkova. Belarus, however, maintained the submission, in the next gem the opponent Brejkl and took the lead 2: 0.
The American also turned to 3: 2 thanks to several winning backhands, but the other four gems became the prey of Sabalk, who won the first set in her favor. Anisimova tried to play aggressively, but she made too many unforced errors, especially from forehand.
In the second act Anisimova equalized from 1: 3 to 3: 3, but in the seventh gem she lost her service again and Sabalenková was 5: 3 one gem from the triumph. The American did not fold the weapons, turned to 6: 5 and forced a secret. It was dominated by Sabalenková, who in the 6: 3 was transformed the third mečbal and corrected the balance with Anisimov to 4: 6.
She returned the semifinal loss from Wimbledon. Sabalenková remedied the taste of this year’s unsuccessful final fights at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, in which she was not enough for the Americans. In Melbourne she succumbed to Madison Keys and in Paris Cori Gauff.
