Last Monday, the draw for the next round of the Croky Cup took place, when the first division clubs are entering the competition. RSC Anderlecht was associated with VK Ninove. And Thursday, the Brussels residents received good news regarding this match.
Last season, Anderlecht had reached the Croky Cup final. But in Heysel, the Mauve and White had to bow to the Bruges club. The disappointment had therefore been great. For the record champion, it was indeed a unique opportunity to win the first big trophy since 2017.

Crucial objective this season
This year again, the cut is the shortest path to a notable trophy. And after the elimination of the European scene, the Croky Cup campaign took even more importance for the Brussels residents. A misstep in 1/16 finals would therefore set fire to the powders within the club.
But the chances that this happens are very low. Anderlecht was in fact lucky during the draw and was associated with the KVK Ninove. The latter certainly won a good victory in the previous round against the second division club Francs Borains. But in itself, the amateur first division team should not pose big problems.
Match not played in Ninove
The largest potential obstacle was that Ninove had the advantage of the field. And this kind of trip is always “boring” for professional clubs. But this drawback now disappears for the RSCA.
Het Laatste Nieuws reports that the bourgmestre Guy d’Haeseleer, in consultation with the police, decided that the match could not be played in Ninove.
Indeed, the Kloppers stadium, the home of the club, is not sufficiently equipped to accommodate the expected crowd. This could cause security problems. The match will therefore be moved to the Lotto Park. Mauve and white thus unexpectedly benefit from the advantage of the field.
