New Delhi: Spain’s young tennis star Carlos Alkaraj created history by defeating Italy’s Yanik Sinner in the Mains Single Finals of US Open 2025. In this exciting match played at Arthur Eche Stadium in New York, Alkaraj beat Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. With this victory, he not only won the sixth of his career and the second Grand Slam title at the US Open, but also won the biggest prize money in tennis history. He has received $ 5 million to win the final match. At the same time, Sinner, who lost the final match, has also received crores of rupees. In the US Open 2025, the prize money of the runner -up was $ 2.5 million. Which is Rs 22 crore in Indian rupees.

Budget of crores for US Open

The United States Tennis Association had announced a total of $ 90 million record-spear prize money for the 2025 US Open, which is 20% higher than last year. These Indian rupees are 793.65 crores. Out of this amount, male and female single class winners got $ 5 million, which is 39% higher than 2024. These Indian rupees are about 44 crores.

Why increased prize money

This major decision was taken after letters and appeals of the top players, in which they demanded to increase the prize money from all the Grand Slam tournament organizers. This year USTA decided to provide more facilities to the players. Players also received 1000 dollars for travel expenses, two rooms spending to stay in the official hotel or 600 dollars per day and up to five rackets in each round.
