At the prestigious Eurominichamps tournament, where Europe’s best table tennis players come together, the ten-year-old Aiden Braekmans from Kapellen has achieved an impressive performance. In the Boys U11 category he finished in a good tenth place – the best Belgian result in a decade, since Adrien Rassenfosse became sixth in 2015.

Aiden effortlessly qualified for the main tournament and defeated some strong opponents along the way. In the eighth finals he had to acknowledge his superior in Ukrainian Mark Voronoi, who eventually won the entire tournament. Remarkable: Aiden had previously beat this later champion in the group stage, which makes his potential all the more clear.

What makes this performance extra special is that Aiden may again participate in the same age category next year. Within his year of birth of 2015, he finished as the second best European – a promising indication for what is to come.

With his talent, determination and sporty flair, Aiden Braekmans is without a doubt a name to keep an eye on the international table tennis world.
