College students confronted fiercely on the field
Southeast.com, September 7 (Reporter Chen Nanwen/Photo) Yesterday, the five-day 2025 Fujian-Taiwan University Student Football Exchange Camp ended in Fuzhou. More than 100 college students and athletes from universities in Fujian and Taiwan use football as a link to enhance understanding, establish friendships, and experience a youth event across the straits together.
In this exchange camp, two college football teams from Taipei City and Taoyuan City and football teams from Xiamen University and Fujian Normal University held 6 high-level football friendly matches. On the field, players from both sides of the Taiwan Strait worked hard and cooperated tacitly, showing a good competitive style.
Feng, a college football player from Taiwan, said: “Although we are not familiar with each other, it feels great to be able to complete this game together, the atmosphere is very good, and we have gained a lot of new experiences through the game.”
Student Ding, a football team player at Fujian Normal University, also said: “Football is a medium that transcends regions. By competing with Taiwanese students, we not only convey our love for sports, but also convey the spiritual bond that connects the blood of the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, making the two sides of the Taiwan Strait more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.”
In addition to football matches, this exchange camp has innovatively launched a diversified communication model of “sports + language and culture”. Outside the green field, young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait jointly visited the Chinese Shipbuilding Culture Museum, Sanfang Qixiang and other historical venues, and focused on participating in the Shoushan stone seal carving intangible cultural heritage experience workshop. Under the guidance of the seal carving master, the students used stone as paper and knife as pen to learn traditional seal carving skills together and experience the beauty of the integration of Chinese calligraphy and carving art. Many Taiwanese students said that carving a seal with a personal style or a cross-strait element not only allows them to feel the profound heritage of Chinese traditional culture, but also naturally achieves in-depth interaction between language and culture in the process of asking for swordsmanship and exploring the structure of seal script with mainland students.
Under the guidance of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, this exchange camp is co-organized by the Fujian Student Sports Federation (Preparation) and the Fujian Campus Football Research and Development Center, and hosted by Fujian Normal University.
