The Vienna Vikings lived up to their favorite role in the semi-finals of the eleven playoffs against Nordic Storm and won at the High Warte in Vienna with 28:20.
The team from the Austrian capital is in the eleven final for the third time and at the same time sets a record. So often a team never moved into the league championship game. In the final, the Viennese meet the winner of the second semi-finals between the Munich Ravens and the Stuttgart Surge (Sun., from 2:30 p.m. live on Joyn, ProSieben, on Ran.de and in the RAN app).
In a balanced first half, it was the guests from Copenhagen who provided the first highlight. Quarterback Jadrian Clark fit on Simon Foens, and the wide receiver caught the ball for the first touchdown of the game.
However, the home side did not show up and came to a touchdown before the end of the first quarter. Karri Pajarinen carried the play equipment into the end zone via a yard. However, the Vikings missed the chance to equalize because they could not transform the subsequent extra point.
The first half ends after TouchDown draw
They did better in the second quarter. After a 42-yard touchdown pass from Ben Holmes on Yannick Mayr, the Vikings opted for a 2-point conversion, which you successfully completed. However, the last word in the first half had the guests who made the 14:14 break.
So the first two quarters were balanced, so clearly the Vikings initially dominated the third phase of the game. Again it was Holmes who made the crucial offensive plays. First he found Florian Wegan in the opposing end zone with a pass, a little later he managed the next touchdown pass – this time again on Mayr.
But Nordic Storm came to 20:28 before the last quarter after the Duo Clark-Foens struck again. However, it was no longer enough – also because the kicker of the Vikings was fouled about two minutes before the end and the referees then decided on a new first down for the hosts.
