The Sport Arena Vienna opens its goals: On September 6, the new multifunctional and energy -neutral sports facility in the second district will take place for the whole family. Numerous indoor and outdoor stations invite visitors to participate. In the ball sports halls, your own sporting skills can be tried out, whether for badminton beginners training, floorball training, basketball dribbling or when throwing handball with throwing speed measurement. In the movement rooms, visitors can try yoga, back training, wrestling, boxing or kendo. Outdoor invite a climbing tower, a handball target shot, giant garden, a basketball wall and a Special Olympics experience area for sporting activities. Exciting competitions, on -site athletes, a diverse gastronomic offer, face painting and a colorful stage program with DJ, moderation, show training and many other highlights round off this day. A small exhibition around the construction of the Sport Arena Vienna will also be shown.
The opening festival for the Sport Arena Vienna will take place on September 6, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Stephanie-Units-Straße 3, 1020 Vienna. The location is very good to achieve barrier -free and environmentally friendly by public transport. The U2 stop Stadion is also in the immediate vicinity. For arrival who still come by car, there are paid parking spaces in the Center Stadium, right compared to the Sport Arena Vienna. Please note: According to the house rules, dogs are not allowed in the Sport Arena Vienna!
Trial operation has been running successfully since the beginning of August
The trial operation has been successful since the beginning of August 2025. In the first few weeks, numerous athletes completed their first training sessions. The variety of the new facility was particularly evident in the training company: handball and badminton clubs were enthusiastic about the ball sports hall, and the gymnasts also put the latest devices of the specially designed art gymnasium through their paces. The flexible multifunctional rooms have also been used in a variety of ways. Training units in disciplines such as girls’ art gymnastics, various martial arts and the Brazilian movement art Capoeira took place here.
The new Sport Arena Vienna offers three independently playable halls that enable an ideal mix of training and event sites. In addition to sports such as gymnastics and athletics, handball, volleyball, football, basketball, badminton and floorball are also played at club level. There are also offers for various strength and martial arts as well as for yoga, Zumba or cheerleading as well as for children’s gymnastics and health sports. A total of around 20 different sports can be trained and practiced in the Sport Arena Vienna. In addition, thanks to its flexible infrastructure and modern equipment, the Sport Arena Vienna is also designed as an event location for competitions, tournaments and major sporting events – and thus offers space for top sporting performance as well as for audience -effective events.
The new Sport Arena Vienna is operated on behalf of the City of Vienna by Vienna Holding Sport GmbH. Sport Wien (MA 51) acted as the client of Sport Arena Vienna. WIP Wiener Infrastructure Projekt GmbH is responsible for project management, a company of the Vienna Holding subsidiary Vienna Location Development (WSE). The Karl & Bremhorst Architect ZT GmbH is responsible for general planning and architecture.
