HV71 wins the training match against Rögle since Jonathan Ang settled.
But for Rögle, there were alarming pictures in the loss when the new slop Mark Friedman expired with an injury.
Rögle got a taste start at the match in Helsingborg when Lucas Ekeståhl-Jonsson put 1-0 already after 2:23 minutes of play. He shot a shot from the blue line that looked all the way behind HV71’s new goalkeeper Lassi Lehtinen. Rögle accounted for a strong first period, but HV71 grew into the match more and more which then also led to a receipt. Jonathan Ang and Niklas Hansson combined and then played over to Hugo Fransson who spun in 1-1 over the shoulder of Rögelkeeper Arvid Holm.
The goal seems to have given HV energy because they came out and was the better team in the second period and in the end the goal also came. Olle Alsing fired a shot from the blue line that was steered by Isac Brännström for 1-2. HV71 thus had the lead for the third period, but there Rögle could stand for a quick receipt. Linus Sandin came in a free position but was disturbed by HV-back Lucas Lagerberg and the judges then sentenced punishment to Rögle. Sandin took care of the penalty himself and outlined Lassi Lehtinen for 2-2 in the match.
Mark Friedman was injured after a collision with Ignberg Nilsson
The third period then became a bit jerky with a number of tackle situations and expulsions. The accident then arrived for Rögle’s new acquisition Mark Friedman, who stepped halfway into the period. HV’s William Ignberg Nilsson came in a counter -attack and Friedman lay down to cover the surface. After Ignberg Nilsson shot at the goal, he then fell over Friedman and the Canadian looked to get the HV forward’s knee in his head. Mark Friedman then had to be helped in the dressing room after being checked by doctors. Friedman has been recruited to be an intended top back for Rögle and he played five matches in the NHL with Vancouver Canucks as late as last season.
Rögle then took over the match and had a long sequence where they were the playful team but they failed to get the puck behind Lehtinen, which HV71 could use. Riley Woods hit a nice pass up to Jonathan Ang who came in a free position against Arvid Holm and Ang shot in HV’s third goal in the match to once again give the away team the lead. Rögle pushed for a receipt at the end of the match but HV managed to keep away to win by 3-2. HV71 won the shots with 34-27 and the new goalkeeper Lassi Lehtinen then saved 25 shots in Vanne.
HV71 then takes its first victory against another SHL resistance during the preseason after previously lost to Frölunda and Örebro, but won against BIK Karlskoga and Visby/Roma. Rögle, for his part, has previously won against Linköping, Red Bull Munich and possibly Zug and the match against HV was their first loss in the preseason. The team will meet again next week, but then for a training match in Husqvarna the degree.
