At Club Brugge a true transfer soap has been created around Joel Ordonez. The Ecuadoran defender wants to leave at all costs and only sees Olympique Marseille as its desired destination. The French seemed close to an agreement, but the deal still threatened to derail.
Marseille already agreed with the financial conditions that Club Brugge initially imposed. Yet Blauw-Zwart suddenly changed with strategy. The reason? The interest of Al Hilal, that according to FootMercato Want to offer up to 45 million euros. Bruges then raised the asking price towards Marseille to 35 million euros.
According to the French rumors, the situation has become untenable for Ordonez. He no longer trained and since July 27 did not play anymore. The defender only wants to go to Marseille and refuses to accept another solution.
In the meantime, frustration is growing at Marseille. The French club feels misled and suspects that Club Brugge consciously stretches time to give Hilal the opportunity to get involved. With the end of the transfer market in sight, it becomes clear in the coming days whether Ordonez will get his way, or whether Bruges opts for the big money from Saudi Arabia.
