Fenerbahçe has announced that José Mourinho resigns his position as technical director at the club. The Portuguese coach was active at the Turkish top club since the 2024-2025 season.
Mourinho’s departure comes after missing the Champions League. This elimination means a financial loss and strengthens the pressure on the board to quickly make sporting choices.
The club will now have to look for a new technical director who can live up to both the sporting ambitions and guide the young talents in European football.
According to some sources, Mourinho is already in conversation with possible new clubs. West Ham United and Nottingham Forest would be interested in the experienced coach.
A return to the Premier League would be logical for Mourinho. He already achieved success with Chelsea twice and had previously been in charge of Tottenham.
He is still highly regarded in England. At Fenerbahçe he regularly clashed with administration and media about the functioning of Turkish football. So it would not be surprising if he made the decision himself.
