The minor regional baseball celebrates its end of the season on Saturday at the Richard-Desmeules stadium in Jonquière while a dozen teams compete in the various finals at the time.
The event brings together six categories (9u, 11u and 13u) in classes B and A. This is the conclusion of the playoffs in each of the categories.
Baseball Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is taking advantage of modernized installations of the Richard-Desmeules stadium this year, including the development of a synthetic field, for the holding of six successive games until 6:30 p.m.
These finals had taken place in Kenogami, in the past two years, and weekly evenings for logistical reasons. The return to the home of Jonquière travelers makes it possible to transform these finals into a small baseball party, according to the president of the regional association, Frédéric Truchon.
It is an incredible experience for young people on the synthetic field. It is the more that we did not have in the past few years. In Kenogami, we made a match per night during the week and it was perhaps more difficult in terms of the atmosphere. There, it’s the crowd, the finals follow one another, whenever a final is played, families come and want to see the Desmeules stadium
said Frédéric Truchon.
Over 1000 players in action
The summer of 2025 allowed Baseball Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean to cross the set once again from the 1000 inscriptions.
The president stresses that the arrival of teams north of Lac-Saint-Jean in Dolbeau, Normandin, Saint-Félicien and Roberval testifies that sport continues its growth in the region.
Registrations have somewhat mounted or remained stable. We crossed the milestone of 1000 players at the regional level. Our AA structures are extremely healthy with a second team of stars in the 13U which has performed very well. Baseball is healthy regionally
has noted Frederick Truchon.
