A shirt number could hardly be more special. After his trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers, NFL star Micah Parsons was introduced to the pressheads of the press. During his first media round, the superstar said that he had chosen the number 1.
On the college and at the cowboys, Parsons wore 11, but with the packers it already wears wide receiver Jayden Reed. With the choice of his new rear number, the newcomer steps into large and legendary footsteps.
Parsons has been the first Packers player since Curly Lambeau in 1925 and 1926, who has this special number. The co-founder, ex-player and ex-coach of the Packers, who gave his name to the legendary Lambeau Field, is the only player in the franchise story that was on the jersey.
Previously, Parsons had asked his followers at Social Media if he should choose 0 or 1. He did not justify why he finally decided on the 1.
In the meantime, the 26-year-old took a position to his change in front of the US journalists. So he explained not to have expected to be traded by the cowboys. However, he is happy to have landed in Green Bay.
Happy via Trade to Green Bay
“It is lucky in misfortune. I will work hard every day to prove that the Packers have made the right decision to trust me. I will take that to heart.”
Parsons also said that he had no influence on which team he would land after the cowboys decided to take a trade. “I had no say. But I would say I am quite lucky because I know about the rich history of the packers.”
Parsons also said that after the bitter playoff bankruptcy of the cowboys, he was actually quite motivated last year to take revenge on the Packers. “Now I’m on the other side and can contribute to this rich story. I am ready to play with you. I’m very excited.”
Parsons with Packers highly motivated
The Packers, who, according to Parsons, have a “fairly strong team in the NFC” can therefore look forward to a highly motivated Pass Rusher. “Winning is everything for me. I don’t think they will find a person who is even more ambitious than me.”
So he does not yet know what it is like to win in the playoffs on the very big stage because he “has never experienced this yet”. However, he promises this from the Packers.
“You got on than we did and obviously won a big win against us. I trust Coach [Matt] Lafleur and I really have the feeling that we can do it. I really want to win. “
