Gáborík: 7 Years Sober & Friday Night Drinking Struggles

Former hockey player Marián Gáborík (42) spoke openly about his past. He was known in his youth as a stormy man, but today he is a completely different person. For seven years, a glass of alcohol has not been drank and admits that this step has changed his life from the ground up.

Gáborík never concealed that his beginnings abroad were really wild. “While I was drank, I often returned home at four in the morning. But alcohol never sat me. A few glasses were enough on Friday and the whole weekend was written off for me,” he recalled in Podcaste Adela and Sajfu.

A decision that changed his life

The turning point occurred after one wilder night. “I thought I’d take a break. And it lasts today,” he explained. The beginnings were not easy, people around him convinced him for the first few weeks to have a glass, but eventually accepted that he decided to go another way.

Seven years without alcohol

Gáborík admitted that from the moment he completely planted alcohol, he had improved his sleep and overall condition. “I have adjusted my daily rhythm, I feel better and healthier,” he said. This year he has celebrated soberness for 7 years and told the fans on social networks: “I am pleased to inspire others. I am grateful and go on.”
