The final stretch of the signing market has become a true headache for FC Barcelona. Fermín López, 22, has received a succulent offer from Chelsea and, according to sources close to the player, is seriously meditating whether to accept it or not. From England, The Athletic confirms the real interest of the ‘blues’, which would be willing to put 50 million euros on the table to take the services of the Huelfenic midfielder.
Barça, without official news
At the moment, any formal communication has not arrived at Camp Nou. However, in the Catalan entity they are aware that the proposal exists and that the offensive is directed directly to the player. Chelsea’s strategy is to convince Fermín, knowing that Barça could not match either in sports or economic what they offer from the Premier League.
Club and Flick position

Barcelona’s policy in these cases is clear: the intention is not to part with any player who is part of the workforce. The coach Hansi Flick stressed him at a press conference before the match against Levante:
“I want Fermín and Casadó to continue. The League will be very long and I will need all the available elements.”
Even so, in the club they also maintain the line marked in previous cases: if a footballer wishes to leave and arrives with a substantial offer, they will not put obstacles to his departure. This happened this summer with Iñigo Martínez and his signing for Al Nassr.
An economic relief
The big difference with respect to the case of the Basque Central lies to the economic benefit. While Iñigo’s departure was a file saving close to 14 million, Fermín’s hypothetical march would leave for the Blaugran coffers about 50 million euros clean. Being canterano, the entire amount would compute as a net benefit, allowing Barça to clean up its financial situation, balance the ‘Fair Play’ and access standard 1: 1 in matters of signings.
Between ambition and doubt
Fermín’s dilemma is not less. Sports, competition in the center of the Culé field remains prominence: on the first day against Mallorca he started but replaced the break, and in the duel against Levante he did not play for a minute. To this is added that some internal relationships, such as the one with Gavi, have cooled since the tour of Asia.
On the other hand, Chelsea’s economic offer greatly exceeds what Barça could raise in an eventual contract improvement. Although in the Joan Gamper trophy he had expressed his desire to follow, the pressure of the English proposal has made him rethink his future.
48 decisive hours
Time runs against: with the market about to close, the footballer and Fermín himself has given 48 hours to make one of the most important decisions of his career.
Chelsea awaits you with open arms; Barça, hoping that you decide to stay. The immediate future of the young media will be resolved in a matter of days.
