The Beaufort Hunt Supporters Club hosted the event, which was held on Sunday, July 27, and welcomed dogs and their owners to take part in fun competitions.
There were two main rings at the event, the Terrier Ring and the Family Fun Ring.
The Terrier Ring, which was overseen by the former Beaufort Kennel huntsman Nick Hopkins, hosted the more traditional classes, including Lakeland Terrier, Jack Russell and Border Terrier categories.
The Family Fun Ring, judged by Mel Puddick and Georgina Bennett, entertained spectators with light-hearted classes such as dog with the waggiest tail, dog the judge would most like to take home, best child handler and best trick.
A basset hound was the star of the show, winning best trick, while Fran Burrows and her dog Brendon Jack won the champion class.
The popular terrier racing saw Roxy, handled by Ollie Jones-Davies, win the race.
Paul Duckett, countryman from the Beaufort Hunt, said: “This event really is about community spirit.
“It’s a day for families, friends and, of course, our wonderful dogs.”
The event was sponsored by Burton’s Farm Shop.
Aside from the dog show, families enjoyed a tour of the hunt kennels, a bouncy castle, a barbecue with burgers from Luckington Farm Beef, a cake stall, tombola and candy floss.
The dog show is one of many community events hosted by the club, which is organised by Paul Duckett, Cuddy Dalgety and a team of volunteers.
A spokesperson for the group said: “The Beaufort Hunt practices trail hunting and is a member of the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA).
“Trail hunting does not involve pursuit of any animal.
“Instead, the hounds are trained to follow a pre-laid scent trail, preserving the traditions, skills and employment associated with hunting, while remaining in full compliance with the Hunting Act 2004.
“Members of the BHSA sign up to a code of conduct and uphold the highest standards of welfare for the horses and hounds involved in the sport.”
