Basketball Trieste, Paul Matiasic thanks and greets the five starters

Basketball Trieste, at the end of a 2024/2025 season entry into the history of the club for the results achieved inside and off the pitch, and before focusing on the start of the preparation in view of the start of the competitions, wants to dedicate a thank you to Denzel Valentine, Jayce Johnson, Sean McDermott, Kylor Kelley and Massimiliano Obljubach. The most heartfelt thanks go to them by all the company for the contribution to the achievement of exceptional goals, such as sixth place in the championship, playoffs, the Italian Cup semifinal and the qualification for Basketball Champions League. Each of them dressed with pride and honor the red and white and was a proud ambassador of the values that the organization is promoted.

“It is extremely difficult when people you care so much – The words of the General Manager Michael Arcieri – who have experienced such an intense experience with you day after day, continue on their way. Denzel gave us much more than points, assist and victories. He brought joy, music, laughter and a free spirit that has helped all of us breathe a splendid basketball. The same goes for Jayce, the teammate par excellence, whose one million dollar smile and the incredible support for each person inside the club went hand in hand with his extraordinary energy and passion in the field. Sean was (and is) a model of pure professionalism, whose perfect suspension shooting and the unique approach to every offensive and defensive action were the mirror of his way of dealing with every day and every interaction with every single person he met. Kylor joined us towards the end of our path (which is never easy) and dedicated all his efforts and his talent, without reservations, for the good of the team (including his enormous performance in the last game of regular season to ensure sixth place in the standings). And Max has put body and soul in our team in these last two seasons, working tirelessly, always with seriousness, humility and a kind smile that has been appreciated by everyone. His future in our championship will be radiant! Each of them will miss a lot and we will follow them closely during the 2025-26 season, wishing them perfect health and great success.

With our complete roster now and the players arriving in Trieste this week, I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank our property, Paul, our scouts Daniele and Tobia, the coach head Gonzalez and the entire technical staff (Nanni, Taccetti, Schlitzer), who have all provided a fundamental contribution in the assessments of the players, in the research and in the strategic discussions that have led us to the team we have today. • Denzel Valentine The charismatic leader that everyone was expected, a bruising lighthouse and a point of reference for his companions, always available with the fans and the media, capable of turning on the enthusiasm in the stands like no one else.
• Jayce Johnson It was probably the player who was able to improve more during the year. A bounce dominator (he closed in fourth place in this ranking) whose positivity and whose smile were contagious in the locker room and during all the events he took part in.
• Sean McDermott He embodied professionalism and dedication in the game: a tireless worker and a deadly shooter, but also an example of dedication and an active participant in the solidarity initiatives promoted by the club.
• Kylor Kelley In the few weeks in which he dressed the red and white, he inflamed the building with his explosiveness, his stubbles and his dunk.
• Massimiliano Promabech It represents the commitment and attachment to these colors like no other. He worked hard every day in the gym and became a model of humility and spirit of sacrifice for all young local athletes. He made debut in Serie A without any reverential fear, putting 9 points on the scoresheet during the championship, always making himself ready for the call calls.

Basketball Trieste is proud of the path shared with these athletes and will retain an indelible memory of their adventure in red and white. The club, the staff and all the fans wish Denzel, Jayce, Sean, Kylor and Max the best fortunes for the continuation of their careers, certain that they will be able to assert themselves in every future challenge that awaits them.
