On June 29, the last round of the Group C of the men’s under-18-year-old qualifying match for the 15th Games of the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the “15th National Games”) football event ended in Wenjiang District, Sichuan Province. Yunnan U18 men’s football team defeated Hunan U18 men’s football team 1:0 and successfully advanced to the final stage with the third place in the group.
This is also the first time in the history of Yunnan Province that three teams have advanced to the National Games finals!
There are 23 participating teams in the men’s under-18 qualifying competition for the 15th National Games Football Games, divided into 4 groups and 5 rounds of fierce battles in four competition areas. Yunnan team was in Group C and competed with Sichuan team, Zhejiang team, Hunan team, Hainan team and Shanxi team in the Sichuan competition area. According to the competition rules, the first place, second place and the third place in the three groups with the best results, a total of 11 teams entered the finals.
The promotion of Yunnan U18 men’s football team is a path of struggle to face difficulties in four years of hard work and face difficulties in adversity. During the game, the weather with heavy rain and scorching sun alternately, the high-intensity schedule and various adverse factors on and off the field. In the first four rounds, Yunnan team ranked fourth in the group with two wins and two losses. Only by defeating the opponent in the last round and Hunan team with three wins and one loss can they get the chance to advance. Faced with difficulties and strong enemies, the young team of Yunnan U18 men’s football team was not crushed. They drew their swords in adversity. With their unyielding fighting spirit and sincere team spirit, they defeated Hunan team 1:0 with a gold goal and won a precious three-pointer. They have proved with practical actions that no matter how bad the weather is or how difficult the situation is, they cannot stop the hearts that yearn for victory and unity and forge ahead.
With the key victory in the last round, the Yunnan U18 men’s football team won three wins and two losses in the Group C qualifying match, and scored 9 points with Hunan and Sichuan. They jumped to the third place in the group with a goal difference advantage, successfully locked in the group qualifying place, and advanced to the final stage of the 15th National Games Men’s Football U18 Group. It also marks another important breakthrough in Yunnan football – for the first time in history, three teams advanced to the National Games finals!
Our province has formed four teams to participate in the football event of this National Games, and three of them have successfully advanced to the finals.
