Youcef Belaïli: Arrest & Release – Flight Altercation

The Algerian international Youcef Belaïli, who has just played the club World Cup with his Tunis club, was arrested this Wednesday morning at Roissy airport after an altercation with Air France staff, before being released in the evening, AFP learned from the Bobigny prosecutor’s office.

The 33 -year -old striker had been arrested, accused of having attacked navigating staff during an Air France flight between New York and Paris. He had been arrested at his descent from the plane to Paris, where he was to correspond to Algeria.

His police custody was lifted at the end of the afternoon for insufficiently characterized offense, according to the public prosecutor.

According to his father Hafid Belaïli’s statements to the Algerian newspaper Ennahar, the altercation is the other obligation to put a seat belt to his young son. “My son Youcef suffered an injustice at Charles-de-Gaulle airport in France (…) French police humiliated my son, although he was an international player,” he said to the Algerian media.

“Algerian and proud of the bastards”: an Instagram story finally deleted

The Air France company confirmed to AFP that it has asked for a police presence on the arrival of this flight “due to the inappropriate behavior of a customer towards the crew”, adding that its on -board staff had filed a complaint.

The former Angers player, Brest and Ajaccio, in Ligue 1, has been playing for a season at L’Espérance Sportive de Tunis, with whom he played the World Cup in the United States last month. The Tunisian club was eliminated at the end of the group phase with a victory and two defeats, the last against Chelsea on June 25 in Philadelphia.

Questioned by AFP, the Hope club in Tunis did not want to comment on the case.

Belaïli published this Wednesday evening an Instagram story of a photo of the Air France flight staff with whom he had the dispute, accompanied in legend of: “Algerian and proud of the bastards” on Wednesday. He then removed it.
