No sabbatical year
As expected the meeting with the journalists of Max Verstappen during the media day Di Silverstone literally blocked the world of sports information: the Dutch world champion was overwhelmed by the questions concerning one’s contract and their sports future. With glacial calm, however, the four -time world champion has rejected any attempt to ‘sneak’ into what will be their own future to the sender.
The only certainty, confirmed by Verstappen himself, is that There will be no sabbatical year And that the current Red Bull standard bearer in the future will aim to combine his presence in F1 with that in other championships: “A sabbatical year, without running in F1? No – paid Verstappen – Surely [ci sarà] The F1. And I will try to combine it in the future with any other type of race possible. Those I can prepare for. Because I want to explore the world of races a little outside Formula 1. I am already doing it with the tests, but I also want to do some races“. This was the only concession made regarding 2026 and beyond.
Mercedes o Red Bull?
For the rest, Verstappen has basically done a constant copy-paste of the words spoken in Austria. No comment has arrived on the alleged negotiations with Mercedes – “Who says it? I have nothing to add “declared #1 to those who asked him why his entourage is talking to the silver arrows – but Not even the confirmation of his stay with the Red Bull in 2026. “I have nothing to add. I haven’t changed on my part. Nothing. – commented Verstappen again – At the moment there is no decision. For me it is not 2026 or anything else. I only focus on what will come and on my work with the team. Then, of course, many people make hypotheses, but it’s not me. Why not say that I will be 100% in Red Bull? As I said last week, that’s all I can say about it. I don’t think anyone can say with absolute certainty that he will feel completely at ease next year. However, there are many unknowns for next year. The only thing I can do is guide the fastest possible with what I have“. And the soap opera continues.
