From July 16 to 20 the Europe. The Spanish team will tell for the first time in its history with a marriage who has made love for horses his way of life: Armando Trapote and Teresa Blázquez. The riders of Montenmedio, who will have their daughter Jimena in the stands, have been selected to be part of the national team next to Mariano Martínez Bastida, Iván Serrano and Hugo Álvarez Amaro.
“I received the news very excitedly, and I became even more illusion that Teresa was also,” says Armando. “We have worked hard to be able to choose to be selected for the European Championship and it is something very nice and exciting,” he says. For Teresa, the surprise was capital. A fall in January and a subsequent injury of its mare, “NASA DE TOXANDRIA”they seemed to close the doors of this championship: “I thought that my options for the European vanished, but I won two major awards, the results with` `Nasa ” were always good. And among the circumstances and that there were not so many people available, they have valued that I am a good option to represent Spain. I do it with great illusion.”
Both tell details of their horses. “It is a very special” Nasa “mare, very hot and sensitive. With twelve years she is already, she has settled. I notice her fresh, quieter and with the serenity that experience and age give.” A maturity that has been seen to see Optglabbeek, where they signed very good tours. Armando does not hide his trust in “Tornado”: “I did a planning focused on the European championship. I gave him a break at the beginning of the year and then we rose.
Armando and Teresa have traveled all the way together and “the preparation is made together,” says Armando. “We have both planning, not the same, but with a common goal. It’s interesting, it’s beautiful,” he says. “Armando has accompanied me in life, in my profession and in my passion. Thanks to him I have reached where I am. He believes more in me than myself. Having him has been fundamental to compete at the highest level and reaching this European,” says Teresa.
Both value the cohesion of the Spanish team. “It is a fighter team that will give everything. There are new faces like Hugo or myself, and others with experience,” explains Teresa. “We are going to support ourselves and help us a lot. The relationship is very good, the environment and union are indisputable,” he says. Armando coincides: “Spain is not a country with many powerful binomials, so there is always a mixture of experience and youth. This team is a sign of that.”
One of the most peculiar aspects is how the competitions of the other live. “I get more nervous seeing him than when I enter the track”admits Teresa. “For me, that he has a good result is almost more important than mine.” “I always wish the best for Teresa. She gives me more nerves than me. I want her to get all her dreams,” says Armando.
This support translates into a complicity that transcends sports aspects. “We always see the routes of the other, we call ourselves later to comment on how Teresa adds and continues:” Reach this point, from scratch, without having anything eighteen years ago … and having two horses in the European today … We have achieved it together. Always together. Represent Spain is the ultimate goal of any athlete. Do it as a couple, with a young and united team, in La Coruña … it is a dream that I never imagined. I will try to enjoy it to the fullest. “
“The message is that if you want and have a good attitude, with work it is achieved. This is a hard sport, with many high and low. But if you fight and work with good attitude, life ends up rewarding you,” says Teresa. “It is not necessary to have horses of millions. You need to work, have a little luck … and dream. Teresa has achieved it in her maturity, just like me. It is never too late. It is never too late to dream and get it, “concludes Armando.
