The prosecutor general of Shim Woo -jung, who retired on the 2nd, criticized the prosecution’s reform plan of the Lee Jae -myung government, including the investigation and prosecution separation.
At the retirement ceremony, Shim said, “There may be criticism of the prosecution’s work and role, but it is not the right way for the people and the nation to abolish the essential and normal role for the protection of the basic rights of the people beyond the wrong part.” It emphasized the need for complementary investigation of the prosecution and made a clear position against the prosecution reform.
Shim’s successor, Insun, will proceed after the Ministry of Justice established the prosecutor’s presidential candidate recommendation committee. The recommendation above is examined by the Ministry of Justice, reviewing the eligibility of the candidates for the prosecutor general, and if he recommends three or more candidates, the Minister of Justice proposes one of them to the president.
Inside and outside the prosecution, former and current prosecutors who have a light friend with former President Yoon Seok -yeol and former Korean people are being nominated for Hapyeong. Park Se -hyun, the chief prosecutor of Seoul, who led the investigation into the prosecution’s special investigation headquarters, and Koo Ja -hyun, a researcher at the Ministry of Justice, who served as the chief prosecutor’s office in the Moon Jae -in administration, are mostly mentioned. In addition, Lee Jung -hyun, a researcher at the Attorney General Training Institute, who confronted the prosecutor general Yoon Seok -yeol during the investigation of the Channel A case, and the former deputy prosecutor of the Busan High School Prosecutor’s Office (27), who were the head of the Ministry of Justice’s Planning and Coordination during the Moon Jae -in administration. A prosecution official said, “There are a situation where the prosecutors who are not close to Yoon Seok -yeol and Han Dong -hoon are mentioned.”
