Santo Domingo, RD.- The José Pérez Basketball Academy recently opened the II Classic Professor Sergio Abreu Formative Categories U16 and U18, dedicated to the FE and Esperanza Foundation, at the Republic School of Chile, of San Carlos.
The veteran sports leader and coach José Pérez (Pochó), president of the Academy that bears his name, stressed that in the second version of the contest that honors Sergio Abreu’s memory, seven teams in two categories compete in two categories, in the U16 and U18.
In the U16 are the teams of the Naco clubs, Jardines del Norte and El Millón Yireh and the Basketball Academies Vivita and José Pérez. In the U18, the Naco clubs, Jardines del Norte and El Millón Yireh, San Lázaro and the José Pérez Basketball Academy participate.
Pérez also valued the dedication of the male basketball championship that fell to the Fe and Esperanza Foundation, of the San Carlos sector, which heads Amaury Happy.
He indicated that prior to the opening ceremony, a parade of the teams was held with the applause of residents through Eugenio Perdomo, Miguel Angel Piantini, Abreu, Fausto Cejas Rodríguez, July 11, Caracas, Altagracia, Ravelo, Isleños and Salcedo.
At the main table they accompanied José Pérez, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police and president of the National District Basketball Association (Abadina); the immortal sport Matilde Guerrero; and Amaury Feliz, who presides over the Organizing Committee of the II Basketball Classic Professor Sergio Abreu.
There were also Lieutenant Colonel Ramona Montero Mateo, of the National Police, on behalf of Colonel Modesto Brioso Vallejo, commander of the C4 San Carlos department; and Deivy Blanco, president of the Parent Committee of the José Pérez Academy.
They recognize personalities
José Pérez (Pochó) gave recognition to several personalities of the sporting, club and community events, in an act at the Republic of Chile School.
Pérez honored the contributions to Diego Pesquería’s Dominican sport; Amaury Happy, Major General (R) Julio Ernesto Florián Pérez, former general army of the Dominican Republic; Matilde Guerrero; Sports journalist Alberto Rodríguez, executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI; and Víctor Pérez Balbuena, president of the Dominican House in the state of Pennsylvania, United States.
He thanked the support of Major General (R) Florián Pérez; Alberto Rodríguez; Diego Pesqueira; Víctor Pérez Balbuena; The friends friends; the Alvarado family; Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal); the businessman Igor Balcácer, who is the father of an alumnus of that institution and the National Police.
