rashod Bateman’s Loyalty Pays Off: Ravens WR Nixes Cowboys Trade, Signs Extension
Baltimore Ravens fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman, a key target for quarterback Lamar Jackson, is staying put. After swirling rumors of a potential trade to the Dallas Cowboys, Bateman inked a three-year contract extension with the Ravens last month, solidifying his future in Baltimore. But the road to this deal wasn’t without its twists and turns.
According to sources, the Dallas Cowboys explored acquiring Bateman via trade in May. The interest was real, and Bateman himself acknowledged the possibility of a move to the Lone Star state. “It was a possibility,” Bateman admitted, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding his future with the Ravens at the time.
Ultimately, Bateman’s desire to remain in Baltimore proved to be the deciding factor. He expressed gratitude to Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta for prioritizing his contract.

Bateman’s commitment to the Ravens wasn’t just lip service. He actively communicated his preference to stay in Baltimore, even as trade talks loomed.
This is the first thing I told him: I don’t want to go anywhere else. I know you have a lot to manage, we will find a solution when the time has come. It took time, as for many contracts. He had several files to process and perhaps others to come. The fact that he prioritized me, it shows that he really values me,
The Cowboys, after missing out on Bateman, turned their attention within the AFC North, reportedly acquiring George Pickens. This move ensures that the Ravens won’t have to face Bateman twice a year as they pursue another AFC North title.
Bateman is coming off a 2024 season were he recorded 45 receptions for 756 yards and 9 touchdowns. With his future now secured, Ravens fans are hoping he can build on those numbers and become an even more integral part of the team’s offence.
