This Thursday has been presented this athletic competition, the only one with meeting format that is currently played in Euskadi, which presumes to count this season with the Bronze seal of World Athletics.
“It is a great challenge for us,” confirmed Eneko Agirrezabal, president of Txindoki, competition organizing club. «The level clearly rises with respect to what is seen in the previous eight editions. We were growing, but this year we will not only see a category athlete in each test, but there will be a minimum of three or four fighting for the triumphs ».
The data are there. On the track of six streets of Altamira, tomorrow afternoon the presence of “about thirty athletes that have been Olympic is expected. There will be participants from 38 countries. For the president of the Goierri Club there will be “many stars” on the blue track of Ordizia. But he highlighted two in the presentation: the Valusist Navarro Asier Martínez (110 meter fences and world medalist) and the Valencian Fatima Diamé (twice world medalist under roof in length). The level is high. «We are only behind Madrid and Tenerife at the state level. This year, having achieved the Bronze category of World Athletics, athlete requests have multiplied to come to compete to Ordizia ».
The ninth edition of this Meeting will start on Saturday at 6:25 p.m. with local tests. At 19.00 an act of starting the international program will be held and the competition is expected to end after 22.30. The following disciplines will be played: 100 (male and female), 400 (male and female), 800 (male and female), 1,500 (male and female), 110 meters fences (male), length (female), weight (male) and pole (female). During the afternoon there will also be speed races for txikis and for adapted athletes.
There are still tickets available on the official Meeting website, at 6.80 euros. As in recent years, the stands of the Altamira stadium are expected to be filled.
