Three archers of the Nîmes club will represent France at the world archery championships in South Korea, from September 5 to 12. A historical selection for the Arc Club de Nîmes, which sees its high level work awarded after demanding events in Agen-Boé.
From June 30 to July 3, Agen-Boé hosted the selection tests of France teams, organized by the French Archery Federation. The objective: to designate the six best French archers (three women, three men) for the world championships in Gwangju, South Korea, and for the last World Cup round in Madrid.
Five nîmes archers were engaged, three of which-Baptiste Addis, Victoria Sebastian and Jean-Charles Valladont-clearly aimed at the French team. And they held their rank with Masters.
Three qualified Nîmes, a historic first
The assessment is exceptional: Baptiste Addis wins the selection, Jean-Charles Valladont ranks third. Among Victoria Sebastian girls also won third place and selection. Nîmes will have three selected for a senior world championship. A remarkable performance.
Among men, the selection remains unchanged from the Paris Olympic Games: Addis, Valladont and Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand) will challenge the South Korean archers, this time on their own soil. Among women, Victoria Sebastian will know her first world participation, after having tose with little for the Olympic Games.
A solid collective under extreme conditions
The selection was played over four trying days, in the heat wave. Only the most solid and physically solid archers were able to do well. The Nîmes club, well prepared, had anticipated the conditions by providing an optimized base camp, between accommodation, recovery and technical support.
The other force of the Nîmes collective: cohesion. Baptiste, Victoria and Jean-Charles remained in the top trio of the classification from start to finish, spaming in difficult times.
Now make way for major deadlines
Before the world championships, the French team will compete in the World Cup in Madrid (July 8–13). A final rehearsal before the big South Korean meeting, from September 5 to 12.
