NFL Dreams: From Seminar to Pro Football

At 17, Jean-Pierre Eto’o is far from on vacation, even if he has just finished his secondary fifth. He trains like never before to be ready to demonstrate the extent of his talent when he arrives in Baylor, a preparatory school in Tennessee which recruited him because of his football performances.

Jean-Pierre Eto’o hopes that it will be a springboard to the American college league (NCAA), then to professional football. When I close my eyes, where I see myself in ten years, I see myself in the NFLhe said with conviction.

The young football player began to take sport seriously only three years ago, but his talent and his attitude were noticed.

His journey inspires perseverance. Born in Cameroon, he arrived in Quebec nine years ago, his mother dreamed better for him, his brother and his sister. He had to familiarize himself with a very different world. At first, it was complicated, it was cold, we always stayed at home, we didn’t know how to adapt, but my mother told us not to worry, that it was going to go betterhe says.

Thanks to his athletic skills, he received a scholarship to study at the Saint-Joseph seminar. Three years ago, he started playing football seriously. From secondary three, I had a change ofmind set. I told myself that this sport will be able to open doors that will be able to help me, me and my familyhe says. It is the engine of his motivation.

This is also what comforts him when he thinks of the fact that he will have to leave his loved ones to study at 8 p.m. drive. When I take a step back, I tell myself that I can be the one who will change the story of my family, help my brothers and sisters, inspire the little ones in my neighborhood to never give up, always believe in yourself.

He will need to believe in him, because the level of play will increase a few notches when he arrives in his new school in Chattanooga.

This is why he continues to train tirelessly until his departure. There is no break, because, the next level in front of me is a very high level of caliber, as I have never known. The difference between juvenile and this level, there is a very very large gap. I have to prepare as best as possiblehe explains.

Returned there, it is the law of the one that is the hungryhe sums up. Determined, eyes fixed on his goal, he seems to be very hungry.
