Lamar Jackson is an elite passer, double MVP of the NFL, and perhaps the best quarterback double threat in history. But there is one thing he admits not having instinctively: leadership.
In an interview with Kevin HartJackson explained that the biggest challenge for him as a quarterback star has been to take on a leader’s role. The latter understands the importance, but admits that speaking in front of the whole locker room is not as natural for him as running or launching.
“Being a leader is the hardest for me. I’m not really someone expressive. Take the floor in front of my teammates, make a big motivating speech … I don’t have it in me. I prefer to lead by example. I go on the field, I work hard, and I’m waiting for the same thing. But growing up in the league, I realized that it was also necessary to talk to the guys. The coaches tell me all the time: “You have to talk to the guys.” So I answer them: “Ok, I’m going to talk to them head-on.” But I realize that some things I see, I have to express them more, share my point of view more. »»
While a Super Bowl remains the last missing piece to a CV already worthy of the Hall of Fame, Jackson is more determined than ever to guide his team to a title.
In 2024, the quarterback launched for 4172 yards with 41 touchwens and had run 915 yards scoring 4 touchdowns. A season which led him to be All Pro for the third time in his career and which ranked it in the second rank for the title of MVP.
