NFL – Wounded ten years ago, Jason Pierre -Paul wants to return to NFL … at the Giants
2010: Jason Pierre-Paul, No. 15 overall
Ten years after the accident that upset his life, Jason Pierre-Paul did not abandon his love of football, nor his attachment to the New York Giants. On July 4, 2015, a poorly controlled fireworks cost him two and a half fingers. An incident that could have put an end to his career, but which he transformed into an engine to get up.
Today aged 35, the former Defensive End, winner of the Super Bowl in 2011 with the New York Giants and then in 2020 with the Buccaneers, did not play in NFL in 2024. But he still hopes for a last chance. And ideally, in the team where it all started.
“I think it would be incredible”, he recently entrusted to ESPN. “Return where my career started … Fans know me, know what kind of player I am. I would give them everything I have. And I know it would be more than enough. »»
Since his accident, Pierre-Paul has achieved no less than 94.5 Sacks in a career, despite his right-hand injury. If he sometimes regrets not having been able to reach the symbolic bar of the 100 sacks, he is nonetheless proud of his career. Today, he also devotes part of his time to educating young people about the dangers of fireworks.
“You never know what life has in store for us. Don’t get into a situation you might regret. Every day is a new chance. So why not be the best in what we do? He says.
During this summer period when fireworks are coming back in fashion, and on this national day of the United States in the United States, its prudence message resonates with force. But beyond the warning, it is also a call to surpassing oneself that Pierre-Paul launches, and perhaps a last challenge in NFL, under the colors of a franchise which is dear to his heart.
