LAHORE – Irfan Saeed of Pakistan WAPDA and Ammarah Ishtiaq of Pakistan Army emerged as champions in the men’s and women’s singles categories, respectively, at the 1st SNGPL All Pakistan Ranking Badminton Tournament that concluded at the POF Sports Complex in Wah Cantt.
In the men’s singles final, Irfan outpaced fellow WAPDA player Muhammad Ali Larosh in straight sets, 21-9, 21-12. In the women’s singles, Ammarah Ishtiaq maintained her dominant form by overcoming Alja Tariq (Army) with a score of 21-18, 21-12 to claim the title.
In men’s doubles, the pair of Muhammad Ali Larosh (WAPDA) and Raja Zulqarnain Haider (Army) edged out Muhammad Adnan and Amir Saeed (both WAPDA) in a thrilling three-set match, 21-12, 16-21, 21-14. In the women’s doubles final, Ghazala Siddique (WAPDA) teamed up with Ammarah Ishtiaq (Army) to defeat Zubaira Islam and Umama Usman (SNGPL) by 21-16, 21-19.
Saqib Arbab, Deputy Managing Director of SNGPL, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed medals, trophies, and cash prizes worth Rs 840,000 among the winners and runners-up. He commended the players’ skill, discipline, and competitive spirit, and reaffirmed SNGPL’s commitment to supporting national sports initiatives.
