Hangzhou “Bao BA” is coming! Yesterday, the start of the event was announced at the press conference of the Hangzhou Business Community Street Basketball Martial Arts Championship (2025 season) held in Gongshu District.

Why do you want to hold this basketball game?

During the post-Asian Games period, Gongshu continued to promote events entering the business district, and has successfully held sports events such as the China Track and Field Street Tour and the Hangzhou Women’s Half Marathon in Wulin Square. The immersive experience mode of “business district is the arena” has transformed Wulin Square into a public cultural space for the participation of the whole people.

At the press conference, Jia Yuanyuan, deputy mayor of Gongshu District People’s Government, said that the holding of the street basketball martial arts competition will further polish the sports label of Wulin Square, rejuvenate the old landmarks, and allow the prosperous martial arts to continue writing a new chapter of “Youth Martial Arts”.

Simply put, use a small basketball to rotate the big economy. In this way, we can leverage the popularity of Wulin Plaza and the consumption level of the business district, and use basketball to connect and use sports to set up a stage to stimulate the night economy.

As a strong commercial and trade zone in the province, Gongshu District focuses on bottlenecks such as difficulty in overall management of business districts, scattered enterprise demand docking, and slow regional industrial development. It has innovatively explored the construction of business communities since 2022, and through the transformation of the “first kilometer” of grassroots party building system and mechanism, it has opened up the “last mile” of grassroots governance to serve economic and social development.

At present, Gongshu District has built a total of 30 business communities, covering 621 buildings, including 62 buildings with tax revenue of more than 100 million yuan and more than 30,000 enterprises. The business environment is the first in the province for many years.

What is the comparison of “Bao BA”?

This competition mainly includes three-a-side basketball competition in collective events and three-pointers competition in individual events.

The three-a-side basketball game is divided into two stages: July 7-July 18 is the preliminaries, organized by 18 streets in Grand Canal Digital Intelligence City and Gongshu District. Finally, 121 teams were decided to advance to the main competition. The main competition is from late July to early September, and it is held in Wulin Square every Friday to Sunday evening. The competition is divided into upper and lower half areas and 30 groups for competition.

The three-point competition is divided into two stages. In the knockout stage, each team of the main competition sends one athlete to participate, and the top 20 will be determined based on the shooting results. In the final stage, 20 athletes advanced to the top 8 were finally decided.

Any non-professional athlete who works and lives in Gongshu District can register, regardless of gender or nationality, and ages 18-60 can register.

What else can you watch besides the event?

During the event, a “sports + business” immersive consumption scenario was created in Wulin Plaza, including literary and artistic performances, theme markets, the first Wulin Ton Ice Drink Festival, and the Travel and Collection Market, providing shopping, food, and brand interaction with one-stop competition peripheral experience.

It is reported that with the event as a link, the four major business districts of Dawulin, Grand Canal, Daheping and Xintiandi in Gongshu District will hold 115 consumption promotion activities of varying sizes in the second half of the year, and will launch catering consumption coupons, supermarket consumption coupons, and Dawulin business district consumption coupons, as well as continue to carry out old-for-new consumption promotion activities, transforming the “traffic” of the event into an economic “increment”.
