The Toronto Blue Jays seek to adjust the race for the east of the American League when they face New York Yankees visitors on Tuesday in a matiné for Canada’s day.

The Blue Jays, third in the classification, won the first game of the four-game series 5-4 on Monday night, shortening the difference with the leader, New York, to two games at the beginning of Julio. The Rays of Tampa Bay, seconds in the classification, lost 6-4 against athletics on Monday, staying at a game and a half of the Yankees.

New York and Toronto have divided their first four clashes this season.

The Ace de los Yankees, Max Fried (10-2, 1.92 era), will be the starter on Tuesday, seeking to break a tie with Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers in the lead of victories in the big leagues.

The New York left-hander has a 3-0 mark and an effectiveness of 0.72 in four openings against Toronto. Fried launched six white entries in the 11-2 victory over the Blue Jays on April 27, in the first match of a double billboard in New York.

The Blue Jays are expected to open Kevin Gausman (6-6, 4.21 of effectiveness). The right pitcher allowed six races in 2 2/3 entries in the defeat against Fried and the Yankees on April 27, which leaves a 10-10 record with an effectiveness of 3.88 against New York in 36 games of his career (30 openings).

Both teams opened the series with notable absences, and the balance was increasing as the game advanced.

The Toronto Campocorto, Bo Bichette, stepped on a ball during batting practice and was removed from the alignment due to discomfort in the right knee, although the problem was not considered serious.

During the game, the right gardener of the Blue Jays, George Springer, received a knee in his throat when he was out, sliding towards Third, after the single of two races of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who gave them the advantage in the sixth entrance. Springer left the game, but it is not expected to waste time.

Toronto starter, Max Scerzer, allowed two races in five tickets, but experienced fatigue in the right thumb (launching). Scherzer launched for the second time since he returned from the injured list after recovering from inflammation in the thumb. The ailment will be monitored before its next opening.

Scherzer was visiting a coach in the mound in the fifth entrance.

“I really noticed that fatigue began to take effect,” said Scherzer. “The thumb bothered me and began to leak into the forearm. I felt stiffness in the forearm, so I called the receptor Alejandro Kirk to try to play a minute.”

The 40 -year -old veteran remained in the game to finish the entrance.

“I knew it was finished,” said Scherzer. “I had reached my limit. It’s frustrating. I’m still dealing with this, I’m still controlling it. I hope to return and recover well.”

The Yankees placed the reliever Fernando Cruz on the list of injured on Monday due to a distension in the left oblique. The Austin Wells receiver was not available either after undergoing test problems on a finger of the left hand.

Wells are not expected to be ready to return until Wednesday.

“I think it is more due to the wear and tear of the reception,” said the Yankees manager, Aaron Boone, “but it was a sufficient concern that we would like to submit it to many tests just to make sure to rule out a blood clot or an aneurysm.”

In the game, Trent Grisham, from New York, was removed in the fifth entrance for a contracture in the tendon of the left corva. The lesion occurred while the central gardener tried to catch a line that sank and that became simple in the fourth entrance. The severity of the injury has not yet been determined.

“I’m trying to be optimistic and really see how he wakes up in the morning,” said Grisham, according to Sny.TV.

The Yankees amounted to the right-handed Geoff Hartlieb of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to occupy Cruz post on the template. The infielder CJ Alexander was designated for assignment.
